How rewards work

Reward your field team for the habits that matter: showing up on time, writing notes, taking photos and getting paid.

Who can do this: Admins turn rewards on and run them. Technicians earn and spend points.

Company switch: Rewards

Also called: points, incentives, bonuses.

Rewards is off until an admin turns it on in Settings. It isn’t tied to your plan and keeps working whatever your subscription is doing.

  • Earning rules: what earns points and how many. Astragal starts you with eight, such as on-time arrival (checked by GPS against the arrival window), job notes filled in, photos attached, quote sent the same day, a job that stays closed for 3 days, an invoice paid, a quote approved and a 5-day clock-in streak. See Earning rules.
  • Catalog: the rewards points can buy, like lunch on the company or leaving two hours early. A starter set is ready to edit. See The rewards catalog.
  • Challenges: a shared goal for a set of dates with bonus points when it’s reached. See Challenges.
  • Redemptions: a technician asks for a reward and you approve it. Nothing pays out on its own. See Approving redemptions.
  • My Rewards: the technician’s own page with their balance, goals, rewards and history. See My Rewards.

The Earning rules tab listing the rules with their points

  1. A technician earns points for the work. Some rules pay as soon as the work is done; others are checked each evening, and a few are taken back if the work is undone (a job reopened, a payment reversed).
  2. Most earning rules have a daily and weekly limit, so nobody can run up points on one habit.
  3. Requesting a reward puts the points on hold. Declining the request releases them; marking it fulfilled spends them.
  4. Technicians get one phone notification each evening summing up what they earned that day, never one per point, plus one when they complete a challenge and when a request is approved, fulfilled or declined.

The first evening after you turn rewards on, technicians also get points for jobs closed, invoices paid and quotes approved in the past 30 days, up to each rule’s limits.
