Changing plan or cancelling

Change your plan or add-ons from the billing screen, and see the new monthly figure before anything changes.

Who can do this: Admins only.

Also called: upgrade, downgrade, cancel subscription.

Changing plan or add-ons

Under Choose your plan, click Choose this plan on the plan you want (it then says Selected), and flip any add-ons on or off. What this comes to shows the monthly figure for your team as you go. Cancel throws your picks away.

When you’re happy, click Update my plan. The confirmation repeats the monthly price, reminds you that anything over your included amounts is charged separately, and, during a free trial, that nothing is charged until the trial ends. Click Update my plan again to go ahead. You see “Your plan has been updated.”

A plan that says Not available yet. (or another reason) can’t be chosen online; email support@astragalhq.com. A team bigger than a plan allows can’t move onto it.

When a change takes effect

• Add-ons start and stop straight away and are charged only for the part of the month they were on.
• Your seat charge for the month is based on the most people you had in it, so changing plan mid-month never splits it.
• Moving onto or off Starter once you’re paying is booked for the start of your next billing month, and the confirmation shows the date. Choose your plan then says “You’ve booked a switch to” the new plan, with Keep my current plan to take it back. During the free trial, the switch is immediate.
• A month that has already closed is always priced on the plan and add-ons you had during that month.

Cancelling

If you pay by card, click Manage billing and cancel on the payment provider’s pages. If you’re billed by hand, email support@astragalhq.com.

During the free trial with no card there’s nothing to cancel; the trial simply ends. If you added a card and cancel, the status reads “Free trial — ends” with the date, and the plan doesn’t continue after it.

• Your plan runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for. Meanwhile the status reads “Ending” with the date, and Plan ends says your plan won’t renew.
• A final bill covers anything you used over your included amounts. On Starter, your last fee is worked out when the plan ends and is at least $15.
• When the plan ends, the company becomes read-only and a banner says “Your subscription has been cancelled — your account is read-only. Everything is still here.” Nothing is deleted.
• To come back, an admin clicks Restart your plan in that banner and adds a payment method. Everything is exactly as you left it.

Fees already paid aren’t refunded part-way through a month or a yearly term.
